Hackney

 Hackney

Chance UK provides one-to-one mentoring for sixty children across the borough of Hackney.

Forty of these children come from mainstream primary schools, and twenty attend Hackney’s Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) or come from the borough’s Youth Inclusion Support Panel (YISP).

The children are referred to us primarily by teachers, but also by social services and other professionals working within Hackney.

The children’s parents/carers are also offered general support and guidance by our ParentPlus Programme Manager.

To find out how to make a referral, please download our Information for Referrers brochure from the Referrals section.

We are looking for all types of people who are interested in volunteering to mentor a child in Hackney. To find out more about volunteering with Chance UK, please click here: Volunteering and donating.

‘The [ParentPlus] programme places a great emphasis on supporting parents, which is an important aspect of my role, and this work has led to parents I work with feeling more confident and willing to accept help from other agencies, which is an incredible step.’
Katie Gonzalez-Bell, Learning Mentor, Moreland Primary School
