Our CEO Vanessa Longley, will be moving on this summer. After almost two years at the helm, Vanessa leaves Chance UK in a place of strength, having led a period of positive growth, renewed ambition, and deepened impact.
Vanessa joined Chance UK in 2023, bringing with her over 25 years’ experience in growing and transforming charities. Her expertise in development has helped shape a more resilient and forward-looking organisation—securing new partnerships, elevating profile, and championing the voices of children and families throughout – most recently through our #TooYoungToLeaveBehind campaign, which had a reach of 52 million nationally with our practical, positive approach to supporting children in the classroom. During her tenure, Vanessa has overseen the launch of a new five-year strategy and a refreshed vision that will guide Chance UK work into the future. With a strengthened leadership team, Vanessa has embedded a culture of learning, inclusion and collaboration across the organisation.
Vanessa said: “It’s been an honour to lead Chance UK during such an important period in its journey. I’m so proud of the growth we’ve achieved, the impact we’re making for children across the country, and the strong foundation now in place for the future. With our new strategy launched and a fantastic team driving it forward, now feels like the right time for me to step aside and make space for the next phase of leadership.”
Chair of Trustees Mary Mulvey-Oates added: “Vanessa’s legacy at Chance UK is one of energy, ambition and clarity. She’s helped us grow and think bigger about what’s possible whilst placing children at the very heart of our future direction. We are enormously grateful for her leadership and wish her every success in her next chapter.”
The Board of Trustees will begin the recruitment process for a new CEO shortly, and the charity remains focused on delivering the new strategy — a Chance for Childhood.
