Support for Families

Let’s Work Together

Caregivers are central to their children’s behaviour, confidence and happiness, but we know that caring for children isn’t always easy. That’s why we offer support to all parents and carers, to run alongside the support we’re giving your child.

What is the Parent Programme?

If your child joins one of our programmes, we will also ask you to join our Parent Programme. You will be welcomed as an individual, to explore your experiences and learn proven strategies to help you develop your parenting skills and personal resilience.

Our Parent Programme is made up of:

  • Mentoring – you’ll be offered at least three one-to-one mentoring sessions
  • A Space to Breathe Parenting Group – a practical 10-week group programme to share and discuss parenting issues with other parents

Alongside our Parent Programme, we offer regular Family Activity Days to help you enjoy quality time with your children and other Chance UK families during the school holidays.

You will also be invited to attend our Information Clinics – specialist advice sessions run by experts on a range of topics, chosen by you.

Making a Referral

If you’d like to refer a child to us you can do this online, or you can contact us directly to learn more.

It’s been great to hear other mums talk about their experiences. I’m learning some useful tips.

All parents and carers are offered support to run alongside the help we are giving your child. So, if your child is given a place on one of our programmes, you will also be asked to join our Parenting Programme to receive one-to-one mentoring, join our parenting workshops and  have access to other support networks.

Our Parent Programme is open to all adults who care for the child, such as grandparents.

The parenting programme aims to support parents/carers and the family as a whole.

If your child isn’t eligible for one of our programmes, we will always try to signpost you to other organisations for support.

When it comes to parenting, we believe that there is always something new to learn. Taking part in the Parent Programe also allows you to be a good role model for your children, as they see you complete a programme alongside them.

If your child takes up a place on one of our programmes, we will ask you to agree to undertake our Parent Programme at the same time. We will ask you to commit to taking part in one-to-one sessions as well as one or more of the other activities we offer.

A Space to Breathe is made up of 10 sessions, covering three topics. It is entirely up to you how many sessions you attend but we find that the more sessions you attend, the greater the benefit.

Taking part is also a great opportunity for you to meet other families.

Our aim is to work with parents in a way that suits you. If you are unable to attend any sessions, please speak to your Chance UK contact who can discuss how you can still access the materials in a way that suits you.

You are more than welcome to attend sessions by simply listening in. Following the session, you can share your views in a one-to-one session with your Chance UK contact.

We offer an inclusive environment free of judgment. The objective is to share views and discuss concerns or challenges parents/carers may be having. We also have a group agreement to ensure that group sessions are run in a supportive manner.

Yes, we award certificates to those who have completed all three units.
